We All Can Have Joy and Everlasting Peace

Hello!!!
Hope you had a great week! Ours was nice!
We had many teaching appointments scheduled for the week and I love sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ with people!
Wednesday we got an unexpected call to drive to Rexburg and help transfer some missionaries so we drove all day! Thursday President Hancock told us to make up a scenario for the upcoming transfer. It was an incredibly hard thing to do. We had to open up two new zones, make sure everyone had the right companion, and so forth. Too bad it was just a made up scenario!
I am doing well. I find it fun how much I have learned about myself out here on my mission. I have come to know that as I get closer to the GodHead, I understand more who they are, individually and as a group. I learn more of my divine nature, who I am and how much they help us in our lives. I have had a lot of memories brought back to me about growing up. As I think and evaluate those past times I recognize no matter how small or larger hey we're, Heavenly Father was involved. If the only thing I do out here for 2 years is learn of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost and what I mean to them, then I would still feel that it was the best two years spent of my life so far. I may struggle with myself trying to be a perfectionist or getting along with other people or talking to strangers, but none of that matters knowing that I will never be alone. I won't lose in life because of a loving heavenly brother. That is all I need. If the world could just realized how much God loves them, that God really lives and watches over us everyday, imagine what life would be like. Here is an example from the Book of Mormon of what I think it would be like.
4 Nephi
1 And it came to pass that the thirty and fourth year passed away, and also the thirty and fifth, and behold the disciples of Jesus had formed a church of Christ in all the lands round about. And as many as did come unto them, and did truly repent of their sins, were baptized in the name of Jesus; and they did also receive the Holy Ghost.

2 And it came to pass in the thirty and sixth year, the people were all converted unto the Lord, upon all the face of the land, both Nephites and Lamanites, and there were no contentions and disputations among them, and every man did deal justly one with another.

3 And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift.

4 And it came to pass that the thirty and seventh year passed away also, and there still continued to be peace in the land.

5 And there were great and marvelous works wrought by the disciples of Jesus, insomuch that they did heal the sick, and raise the dead, and cause the lame to walk, and the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear; and all manner of miracles did they work among the children of men; and in nothing did they work miracles save it were in the name of Jesus.

6 And thus did the thirty and eighth year pass away, and also the thirty and ninth, and forty and first, and the forty and second, yea, even until forty and nine years had passed away, and also the fifty and first, and the fifty and second; yea, and even until fifty and nine years had passed away.

7 And the Lord did prosper them exceedingly in the land; yea, insomuch that they did build cities again where there had been cities burned.

13 And it came to pass that there was no contention among all the people, in all the land; but there were mighty miracles wrought among the disciples of Jesus.

15 And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.

16 And there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lasciviousness; and surely there could not be a happierpeople among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.

17 There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were inone, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.

18 And how blessed were they! For the Lord did bless them in all their doings; yea, even they were blessed and prospered until an hundred and ten years had passed away; and the first generation from Christ had passed away, and there was no contention in all the land.

Priorities would change, grudges would be let go of, arguments over silly things would disappear. The world would become a far better place with delightsome people. Only if everyone followed the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. But we don't and that is why it is so important to share the gospel. I have learned that if you want to make a difference in your sphere of influence SHARE THE GOSPEL. And if you don't know why it is shared or have lost a reason why, I invite you to learn more, to have everlasting joy and peace.
God lives.
Christ lives.
And we are guided by them everyday and you can learn that you are if you are willing to listen!
Hope you have a great week.
Love,
Elder Rush

My Idaho Angel Barbie Stoddard shared this picture and post from her friend. Love our missionaries!

Moving day for my office, not the best day to move, luckily it is just across the street BUT when your movers are SCILD workers and only one shows up for the day you freak out a little. Who comes to the rescue...the LDS Missionaries do that's who.😊 Thank you to the one guy who showed up to work SCILD (you rock), and the 14 Elders for helping us!!! Life savers all of them!

Hope You Had A Great Week!

Hello!!!
HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT WEEK!
We had the opportunity to do so much missionary work this week. Since
we received a new area we had many new people to meet! We went to work
and knocked many many many doors!
My favorite experiences of the week happened on Friday. We received
two referrals to go visit a man named Harry and a little girl named
Annabell.
Harry was waiting for us to come over. He has a small apartment with
only two chairs but he had found an extra one and brought it in for
us. That was all set up for us when we got there. So I was just
thinking WOW! So we preceded to get to know him and discuss the
importance of Jesus Christ in our lives. He was very open to learning
more and we felt prompted to ask him to be baptized on Feb. 27th! So
hopefully he will be ready by then.
And Annabell! She is awesome! A 9 year old full of energy! We talked
to her about being baptized. She said she wants to do it on her
birthday! And she always talks about it. At church the first thing she
told us is" So you are coming to my baptism right?"
We ask her why she wants to be baptized and she says it is because she
loves God and Jesus Christ! So awesome!!!
She makes me think about faith! ...and this quote!

"Please remember this one thing. If our lives and our faith are
centered upon Jesus Christ and his restored gospel, nothing can ever
go permanently wrong.  On the other hand, if our lives are not
centered on the Savior and his teachings, no other success can ever be
permanently right.”

 President Howard W. Hunter

We can do all things through Christ!
I love and miss you all!

Happy New Year!

YOOHOO!
Happy New Year!!!!
I cannot believe it is already 2016!!!
The New Years day was good! We had the chance to play basketball again
for a few hours and then we had a brunch at President Hancock's house!
I ate so many waffles!
The week seemed super long because of the holidays. It is strange to
have 3 preparation days in one week! I am ready for things to get back
to normal!
I am loving the new area already! The 12th ward we started covering
has not had missionaries in it for quite some time. You could just
feel it when we attended church with them! I cannot wait to get to
know all the people here!

I have been learning so much here. I really love this quote
" What's your excuse for not being who you were meant to be. For not
living up to that idealized picture of yourself you carry in your
head? Most of us have a sweet vision of ourselves as someone better.
But when it comes right down to living up to our standards we can find
a million excuses not to. And by so doing we become someone we didn't
want to be."
"He never fashioned a statue, painted a picture, wrote a poem, or led
an army. He never wore a crown or held a scepter or threw around his
shoulder a purple robe. His forgiveness was unbounded. His patience
inexhaustible. His courage without limit. Jesus changed men. He
changed their habits. Their opinions. Their ambitions. He changed
their tempers. Their dispositions. Their nature. He changed men's
hearts."
I am grateful I have the chance to go out and tell people about our
Savior Jesus Christ!
I love you all!
Love,
Elder Rush

Once Again It Has Been Two Weeks

Well once again it has been two weeks!
If you have not heard Elder Fontes returned to Brazil. He finished his mission. My new companion is once again Elder Dalling. I guess we did not get it right the first or security nod time. Third time is the charm! I am excited for these upcoming transfers!

Life is always crazy around transfers. The number of missionaries that have been out longer than me is getting smaller and smaller, especially the Sister missionaries. There are only 3 Sisters that have been out longer than me left in the mission. I still remember the day when there were over 250 missionaries in the mission that had been out longer than me! Time is flying!

We spend most of our time with departing and arriving missionaries. It is interesting to see the different attitudes of those leaving the mission and those just starting!

We were not able to spend much time talking to people in our area but something that was once again reassured to me, is that God puts you in the right place. We had a few extra minutes between appointments so we felt the need to go knock on a door of a referral. No one answered but a man walked outside next to where we were, so we quick walked over to him. We spoke to him about Jesus Christ and what it means to have a Savior. We were able to set up a time to come back and talk to him. It was great! We decided to knock on the door again. This time someone answered and we set up an appointment for tonight! I truly know God makes things happen if you follow His plan!

A spiritual thought for this week talks about making Zion in our hearts.
"I say the only safe ground is our hearts. What Elder Holland said concerning Zion is true. It is no longer about where we build Zion or where we run to find Zion. Zion is here in our hearts, right where we stand and we will expand Zion from there."
In a world full of trouble we cannot run away from evil and sin but we must stand as a witness of Jesus Christ and be righteous in all places and at all times. I have come to know the benefits of how The Gospel of Jesus Christ blesses our lives!

I love you all and hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
I hope we all can remember the purpose of this Christmas season...Christ.

Love,
Elder Rush

Merry Christmas

Yoohoo Family...and friends!
This week was busy busy with Christmas (and I hope you all enjoyed Christmas)
We delivered packages Christmas eve from 10 am to 8 pm! Holy cow was
that a long day! I definitely know I do not want to be a deliver
person when I grow up!

The holidays make it hard to find people to talk to since no one is home,
however it was still a good week.

Interesting news, our area is being moved to just the East stake in
Pocatello! I am really bummed that we won't be in YSA wards anymore.

The biggest lesson I learned this week is once again the importance of
serving God. Like in any aspect of life people want to be at the top.
Captain of the team, President of the club or an assistant to the
President in a mission. And those are good desires but when they
become your main focus you lose site of your purpose, like winning the
game, helping the club, or bringing people unto Christ. When we just focus
on our main purpose it cuts out drama, back stabbing, feeling
inadequate and things like that. God has made life simple and when we
put trust in Him and obey with exactness, we will not stumble through
life. HE is the ultimate source of happiness. God lives as does His
only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. And because of that we too may live
again in their presence!

I love you all! Have  a great week!

Love,
Elder Rush

" 14 But behold, the Jews were a stiffnecked people; and they despised
the words of plainness, and killed the prophets, and sought for things
that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their blindness,
which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall;
for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto
them many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it.
And because they desired it God hath done it, that they may stumble."
Jacob 4:14

Merry Christmas to us, we got to Skype Elder Rush and see his handsome face!
He's still goofy and adorable!

Sledding fun with the amazing Stoddards

Elder Rush used the box I sent his Christmas presents in. It didn't last very long!
